India's coal output increased by 7.4% to 78.69 million tonnes in April compared to last year's 73.26 million tonnes, according to the coal ministry.
Coal India Limited (CIL), the state-owned coal mining company, accounted for nearly 80% of domestic coal output. It achieved a remarkable coal production of 61.78 million tonnes in the month, rising 7.31% from the previous year's 57.57 million tonnes.
Furthermore, coal production by captive and commercial mines in April totaled 11.43 million tonnes, up 12.99% from 10.12 million tonnes in the previous year, the coal ministry said.
India's coal dispatches grew by 6.07% to 85.10 million tonnes in April, against 80.23 million tonnes during the same period last year. CIL alone dispatched 64.26 million tonnes of coal, a 3.18% rise from 62.28 million tonnes in the year prior.
Additionally, coal dispatches of captive and commercial mines in April amounted to 15.16 million tonnes provisionally, jumping 26.9% from the previous year's 11.95 million tonnes.
